小さな賑わいが持続する屋上庭園
横浜駅西口の建て替えプロジェクト。1859年、日米修好通商条約をきっかけに横浜港が開港。そして、2011年に営業を終了した横浜CIAL跡地に2020年、新しい横浜の玄関口として、JR横浜タワーが誕生しました。「再びひらいてつながる国際都市、横浜」を体現すべく、2013年のコンペ時から、アトリウムを含む外部環境全体の企画構想、コンセプトブック、基本設計、実施設計までを担当しました*。
タワー12階、地上６０メートルに計画された屋上庭園のデザインでは、高層棟で働くオフィスワーカーも駅に遊びに来た子連れのお母さんも、それぞれが自分の居場所を見つけ、ゆっくりとした時間を過ごせるよう、「いくつもの小さな賑わい」が同時共存できる場所を目指しました。
人工物で覆われた環境に柔らかさをもたらす有機的な大地と、縦横無尽に配置されるいくつもの細長い「バー」。大地との高低差によってバーはベンチ、テーブル、空間の間仕切りの機能を兼ねています。慌ただしい横浜駅周辺において、眺望と緑を感じられる心地の良い屋外ラウンジとなりました。

ホスピタリティを映す「かいしき」の庭
大阪を代表するビジネス街、中之島に新しくオープンした「三井ガーデンホテル大阪プレミア」の前庭デザインを担当しました*。
日本料理の世界では、器と料理の間に花や葉など生きた緑を添えて、季節を楽しむ「かいしき」というおもてなしの形式があります。そういった日本人ならではの洗練された気配りや癒しで満たされた風景を描こうと、 「かいしきの庭」をコンセプトにランドスケープを展開しました。全て樹種の異なる厳選された桜の木をはじめ、風の動きや水面のきらめきを可視化するなど、繊細な自然の移ろいを、おもてなしの形として敷地全体に散りばめました。
Nakanoshima district in the Osaka area is one of the most important hub of international tourist and domestic business people visiting in Osaka area. In order to convey the hotel’s concept of ‘Japanese sophistication’ , we created its garden with the theme of ‘Kaishiki’.
‘Kaishiki’ is a characteristic feature which is seen in traditional Japanese cuisine. Seasonal plant leaves and flowers are set aside the food to emphasize the seasonal sensation in a very subtle manner. For the Japanese, admiring the changing season is a ritual celebration in their daily lives. Such ritual celebration can be seen inJapanese garden, Ikebana (floral art), and seasonal word in Haiku, etc.
In the garden, cherry blossoms which informs the advent of spring are ‘arranged’ in steel vases, rather than just ‘planted’ within the planted zone. In Japan, there are more than 600 different species of cherry blossom, and in this garden each different species of cherry blossom are carefully selected and planted. Other trees are also carefully selected in order to visualize move in nature, such as wind and sunlight through swinging leaves and flowers.
Along with this Ikebana-like planting, we have designed the pavement by re-constructing the traditional japanese pattern. The random checked pattern is applied for the entire pavement and the plantation zoning. It has made the garden look modern yet traditional.
Capturing the fineness of nature and tradition in Japanese culture andre-interpreting them in present time has resulted in the expressing of the hotel’s fine hospitality.

世界を見晴らす、始まりの丘
MUFGで働くすべての人々の始まりの場所として。グループの研修施設中庭デザインを担当しました。この場所へ研修に訪れるたび、発見や気づきを通し、新たな見晴らしに出会えるような「丘」としての中庭を作りました*。
「水平」(HORIZON)と「垂直」(VERTICAL)を大きな構成として計画されたボイド空間。様々な方向を向いて重なるステップフロアは、居場所毎に違う景色を提供し、緑を感じたり、食事をとったり、会話をしたりと、ひとびとの行為につながりと広がりをうみだす空間を演出しています。また、各階の床に刻まれた、世界の経済主要都市の名前とその方向を指し示す床パターンは、グローバルに活躍の場を広げるMUFGのビジョンを表現しています。一方、垂直方向に上下階を繋ぐ各階の緑は、高い空へとひとびとの意識を誘いながら、心地よい光や風を建築内部へと運び込む環境フィルターとしての役割を担っています。

The site is located in Minatomirai, Yokohama, a business district with mostly reclaimed land and limited greenery. The learning center is a new building for the group’s job training programs, with a requirement to design the outdoor space for employee recreation while also reflecting the group’s philosophy. Taking advantage of the vertical structure, the landscape design was developed around the theme “The Hill,” providing lush greenery and scenic views.
The garden is composed with an emphasis on both “vertical” and “horizontal” elements. To enhance the horizontal composition, each floor offers a unique view, allowing people to enjoy fresh air, take breaks, and have conversations as if they were on a hillside. The floor’s line patterns indicate directions and distances to major cities worldwide, expressing the group’s global vision.
For the vertical composition, trees are planted along the stairways to create a continuous flow of greenery from floor to floor. The variety of trees serves as a natural filter, softening sunlight and drawing fresh air into the building.

買う人も買わない人も集まれる庭
既存駐車場を含む約9000平米の空間を、コミュニティスペースとして減築し近隣地域へと解放する、新しい近隣型ショッピングセンターのあり方を掲げたリニューアルプロジェクト。外構全体のデザインを担当しました*。
人と自然の営みがより積極的に関わる場所となるよう、施設の中心に現れた広場を「杜庭-MoriNiwa」と位置付け、潤いの中心としての泉や、スペインからやってきた樹齢数百年のオリーブの木、子どもが走り回れる芝生のマウンドを用意しました。街へ開いた施設イベントとも連動し、賑わいの波紋は街へと広がっていきます。

滞在と回遊を促す仕組み
広島県郊外に新しくオープンした、アウトレットを核とする大型商業施設のランドスケープデザイン(基本設計)を担当しました。
26万8000平方メートル、約200テナントを内包する広大な当施設の環境コンセプトは、「様々なシーンのあるタウンスケープ(街並み)」。外構空間においてもエリア毎に印象の異なる場づくりを行なっています。メイン広場には針葉樹のビスタ(軸線)を設け、施設の象徴となる立体的な大通りを演出。回遊動線となる外廊下には長い移動の結び目となるようなポケットラウンジを設定し、大小様々なグループの来場者がそれぞれの居場所を見つけられるようなファニチャーを提案しました。

記憶を繋ぐ 地域を繋ぐ
百年以上の歴史を誇る醤油工場の跡地に計画される、近隣型商業施設のランドスケープデザインを提案しました(企画提案/基本設計)。切妻造りや板塀といった醤油蔵のアイデンティティをデザインエレメントとして採用し、土地の記憶を次世代へとつなぐことを意識しました。
広場中心にはリング状の遊具を配置し、平均台のように遊んだり、簡単なイベントもリング内側で行えるようになっています。また、近隣には豊かな桜並木があることから、桜を計画地にも取り込み、買い物ついでにお花見を出来るような縁側デッキを提案しました。

近隣型商業施設のリニューアル案件。dpLは駐車場照明柱のデザインを担当しました。曇りがちな新潟の空を明るく彩るグラフィックは、エリア毎に色相を変えることで、単調で広大な駐車場においてロケーターとしての役割を持たせています。

いぬの停留所
(株)キクシマ50周年記念企画「まちを楽しくするストリートファニチャー」デザインコンペ優秀賞 / プロトタイプ
広い空と広い道。大都市でありながら、空間にゆとりを感じられる街、横浜。犬を散歩させる人々を多く見かける、愛犬家に人気の街でもあります。愛犬を連れてゆっくりと歩きたくなるストリートは、ひとにとっても歩きやすい魅力の詰まった歩行空間と言えるのではないでしょうか。「いぬの停留所」 は、リードフックの機能を持った、犬のための休憩スポットです。休日には歩行者天国として歩道が拡張される商店街、道幅の広い公園や大通りを、ペットに優しい散歩コースとして設定し、「いぬの停留所」を設置。気軽に犬をつなげるポイントを点在させることで、犬を飼うひとが散歩に出かけやすくなるきっかけをつくります。また犬を飼わないひとにとっては、心地よい散歩コースを賑やかに繋ぐオブジェとして楽しめるものとします。

ラピッドプロトタイピング黎明期、ミラノで開催された3Dプリントの可能性を広げる展示への参加作品。
The “Dream” exhibition-すべての創造は、夢という想像の中から始まる-という展示テーマを受け、縄文土器に押しつけられた縄目模様さながら、タイヤ痕を模様にした壺を考えた。化石燃料に依存した世界が遠い過去の話になる未来。未来から見た現代のアーキオロジカル・オブジェクト。
Aechaelogical objects are markers of time. With an interest in the nature of trace on ancient pottery, this vase with tire marks is a nonlinear timepiece to dream a reality.

空想に触れる家具
間伐材、国産針葉樹の可能性やアイデアを募るコンペ応募案（入選）。木目の細かいヒノキとNC加工によるレリーフを組み合わせた、子供用家具の提案です。
ネイティブアメリカンの伝統文化のひとつであるトーテムポール。そこには受け継がれてきた神話や、伝説の中に登場する動物や事象が刻まれ、先祖のメッセージを物語のように後世に伝える役割をもっていました。
TOTEMはトーテムポールに着想を得た子供用テーブル/椅子セットです。手触りや香りの良いヒノキを用いることで子供の心や感性を育み、現代の彫刻技術であるNC加工によるレリーフが、子供の自由な発想や空想に寄り添います。
Furniture project to expand potential of Japanese conifer. Japanese conifer, which is excess and abandoned in mountain, is not so suitable for use of furniture making in comparison to imported broadleaf hard tree. TOTEM is a series of kids furniture inspired by native american sculpture. By putting CNC milled modern relief on fine grained Japanese cypress, the unique tactile pattern helps child’s freewheeling imagination.

工作屋台「こどもねーど」
自家製レモネード販売と出張アートワークショップを融合させた工作屋台「こどもねーど」を不定期にて出店しています。買えばなんでも手に入る時代ですが、わざわざ手を動かすことの楽しさや美味しさを近隣地域の子供たちと一緒に共有していく試みです。子供たちとのものづくりや会話、イベント運営参加の体験が、広場や公園設計へのフィードバックとなることもあり、今後も緩やかに続けていきたい活動です。

香港特別行政領域国土交通省主催の香港防音壁アイデアコンペ 1位入賞
HEDGEROW -a sustainable urban corridor-
Traditional hedgerows in the rural landscape are viewed as icons of beauty and idyll in Europe. Normally these hedges are made from growing plants planted and grown in such a way that their limbs densely intertwined, thus securing livestock within their bounds. Entangled with other seedlings, this living green wall is also essential for humans, for whom it provides wood-fuel, natural medicine, food, and signs of the changing seasons. The complex matrix of such hedges further offers habitat for flora and fauna alike with food and cover. Attributing to biodiversity, a hedgerow can improve the environment by adjusting micrometeorology, generating oxygen, and beautifying the atmosphere. Taking inspiration from this wall of nature, HEDGEROW is proposed to improve the quality of the ecology and the environment in modern urban areas.
